Alright so we're in Nelson right now because we kind of procrastinated in putting together the trip to Takaka/Golden Bay. We've decided we'll bypass that area for now (hopefully we can come back another time) and move on to Greymouth first thing tomorrow morning. Greymouth is about halfway down the South Island on the West Coast.
Our trip to the Abel Tasman National Park yesterday was great! It rained almost the whole time, but we definitely got to see a lot! We took a bus in the morning to Manahau and then took a water taxi from there to Tonga Island to see the seals and then to Tonga Beach to hike back down to Torrent Bay. They said the hike was supposed to be 3.5 hours and we arrived at the Beach at 12pm. We had to catch the 4pm water taxi (which was the last) back to Marahau in order to catch the 5:10pm bus, also the last one, back to Nelson. We were going along at a decent rate when we passed a sign that said "Torrent Bay 1 hour 45 mins". We literally only had that much time before 4, so we seriously booked it! We only stopped a few brief times in order to take pictures, but we definitely got a serious workout hiking that fast! We arrived one hour early, at 3pm in Torrent Bay and we were so happy to sit down and eat some lunch! What a crazy hike!
